Cool  photo above—  huh? To satisfy one’s curiosity regarding this photo—  the amazing image is that of an unborn baby at 20 weeks.

I know what you’re thinking. There must be thousands if not hundreds of thousands of articles on abortion. Be it from those who are pro-choice to those who are pro-life. All of which are filled to the brim with eloquent verbiage as to why you should believe them as opposed to the other side. Why on earth would I take on a topic such as this one? What could I possibly add to the conversation that hasn’t already been said ad nauseum? My answer…..

When it comes to a discussion on abortion, nothing is black and white. Most articles you read are either one way or the other. “My body my choice” the pro-choice’ers scream at the top of their lungs with the pro-lifer’s screaming at the top of theirs… “Abortion is murder”. This article will take a slightly different tact. No, I’m not going to show you gruesome photos. All that does is piss people off and they immediately quit reading however, you’re imagination should be more than enough to make my point.

In fact, my trusty BOF Bookmarks may yet again be required. We’ll see.

Before We Begin

Trust me, I realize that for some this is an extremely touchy subject no matter which side you’re on and I’ll do my utmost keeping this in mind as I write this piece but there are certain things one can no longer deny which will be the first segment of this article. We’re going to cover all the bases here so be prepared. Two things I’m sure of. I’m going to piss off both sides of this issue but I implore you to finish what I’m sure will be a lengthy article filled with unintentional triggers. The first of which will be my stating that yes—  life does begin at conception and while that may be true, common sense also tells us there is no way in hell you’re going to force young women to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term just because she made a mistake on a Friday night. OK—  let’s begin.

Symantics – My Body My Choice

You are 100% correct. It’s your body, you can do whatever you like with it. That has absolutely nothing to do with abortion, it’s just a fact. Nor is it relegated to just your body. As a free thinking individual, you literally have the choice to do as you please. If you’re a woman, you can run out to an after game football party and have sex with the entire team just as long as they’re willing to accommodate your wishes. Want to have sex with animals? Fresh and salt water creatures?  Snails crawling out of your vagina? Totally up to you. You can even record it if you like and post it on some porn site. And this choice thing isn’t just for women. Oh no. By the same token, guys can be drug addicts, school shooters or just some random guy who decides to murder someone on his way home or plow his car through innocent people during a Christmas parade.

Even though we here in the US would like to believe we live in a civilized society you can choose to be uncivilized. You can choose to be smart or be a fool. Now, for those of you who cringe and think most of what was said above doesn’t happen—  a simple online search will quash that belief. Yes, we have some pretty sick puppies on this planet. So what does everything I just wrote have in common? It means that your life is nothing more than the sum total of the choices you make and that every single choice is accompanied with consequences. Intended and unintended. Most good (hopefully,) some not so good, others pretty bad and some that may cost you your life. But above all else, it’s your choice. It all depends on the price you’re willing to pay for the luxury of being able to make them. So whether it’s your body, your mind or your life—  it’s completely your choice where you wind up throughout the course of it.

Abortion

Same thing, it’s a choice although I find it unimaginable that women make this choice lightly. Some might but I doubt most do. That being said it’s equally plausible that through indoctrination in our schools many young people now consider it simply a slightly more expensive form of birth control. But fear not, if you qualify, you too can have the procedure at little to no cost. Some states or corporations might even cover all expenses including travel, hotel and food. Imagine that. But we still have yet to answer the question. At what point do we as a society say NO to murdering babies? In fact—   do we even know what a baby actually is? Seeing we have a newly appointed Supreme Court Justice (a woman mind you) who can’t define what a woman is, it should come as no surprise that it’s getting more and more difficult to define most anything these days. So I guess it all now depends on one’s perspective. If a woman becomes pregnant and is joyful about it, it’s definitely a baby. To a woman with an unwanted pregnancy, it’s just a cluster of cells. So, let’s answer that cluster of cells question right now, once and for all, shall we? According to the website Human N Health, the following photos are of a baby’s (human) development month by month. Take a long hard look at the photos below and you be the judge. Nothing gruesome, I promised I wouldn’t.

Birth

See? Not gruesome at all but here’s the interesting thing. There are those pro-choicer’s out there whose beliefs are so baked in, the photos above which easily and completely refutes the “cluster of cells” argument, found it all too triggering and most likely closed this window refusing to read another word. It amazes me how strong denial can be among some people. For the rest of you who are still here, please continue.

Now, I’m no doctor—  nor am I a scientist or an expert in anything remotely resembling the field of human development. But I do consider myself to be a rational individual with common sense. While I won’t give you my personal opinion on the photos above and which of the first three photos resembles a human being, primarily because my opinion doesn’t matter, I honestly don’t believe it takes a brain surgeon to figure it out. I think we can all agree that it has to be somewhere in the photos depicting eight to twelve weeks. The rest of the photos are a no-brainer. Agreed? Good. It’s important to keep in mind that all of the photos above are of a developing human being. There’s no arguing this. The argument lies in what we perceive and the reasons behind our perceptions. We’ll get more into this later on.

Political Science

The few things we’ve definitely learned throughout the last four years with the Covid-19 disaster are the following. (1) You can’t trust the FDA as far as you can throw them. (2) You can’t trust the medical establishment as far as you can throw them. (3) You can’t trust Big Pharma as far as you can throw them and (4) You can’t trust the CDC as far as you can throw them. Why? For two reasons. First—  as we’ve all seen over the past few years they’re more-often wrong than they are right. Secondly—  they are now (and most likely have been for years) more politicized than ever. You can ask ten qualified doctors, scientists or any experts in healthcare and you’ll get one opinion and ask ten equally qualified doctors, scientists or any experts in healthcare and receive a different if not completely opposite opinion. So what do we have remaining? Indoctrinated college kids holding up signs chanting My body, my choice walking away from anyone questioning why they believe the way they do. Because they can’t answer. It’s much easier to flip you the bird and call you a racist.

To be brutally honest, when it comes to abortion, science plays little to no role in why pro-choicer’s believe the way they do.

Let’s face it folks, we now appear to live in a society where a large swath of the public refuse to define what a woman is, let alone whether anyone these days can be male or female. Pretty crazy… right? So what on earth makes anyone think we can all agree on abortion? The simple answer is, we can’t. It will never happen. Is there a solution? Sure there is. One that would work for both sides? Absolutely. If that’s true, why hasn’t a solution been found? Answer: Because most people see abortion as a black and white issue. Either ban it completely or have at it, no restrictions. And don’t forget—  politicians on both sides of the issue make boatloads of money through donations. It’s a cash cow. Who wants that to end? Certainly not politicians. But until viable solutions can be brought forward, we have to first admit that the issue of abortion is miles away from being black and white. That is what the rest of this article will address, including solutions.

A Vastness of Gray

Perhaps the title of this segment should have been Reality vs Fantasy. Why? If we go under the scientific reality that human life begins at conception—  the fantasy would be to think that every single female be forced to give birth once pregnant. Herein lies the gray area. Now that we (as laypeople) pretty much agree —(perceptively)—  that somewhere between eight and twelve weeks, we can no longer use the cluster of cells argument, all abortions should be banned at 12 weeks, right? Makes sense, doesn’t it? Or does it. Well… that depends. And the same holds true with not allowing an abortion after twelve weeks. That depends as well. But let’s begin at the beginning. We can all 100% agree on the following statement. All women have absolutely every right not to get pregnant. Two things you can’t run away from when it comes to pregnancy. It’s either a choice or an unintended consequence. Nonetheless, women have every right not to get pregnant. What do I mean by unintended consequence? I can only think of two instances. It’s either due to an “Oops!”  moment or due to Rape. Some want to add incest but I disagree. Incest falls directly under the “Oops!” or Rape categories.

Most of Europe including many States here in the US have limited abortion to 15 weeks which on the surface seems reasonable. Generally speaking for most women, it’s a safe bet to run out and purchase a pregnancy test after missing your period. That’s four weeks. But let’s say you’re a moron and wait until you’ve missed your second consecutive period to purchase that test. That’s still eight weeks. Now you find out your pregnant or you contact a health professional to learn why you’ve missed two periods in a row. It’s definite, you are pregnant. That still leaves you 7 weeks in which to make a decision on whether you want to keep the baby or abort it. Sounds damn reasonable to me. Again, generally speaking and keep in mind that this is the best case scenario pro-life could ever hope for. So, it’s settled—  no legal abortions after 12 to 15 weeks… right? Well, it’s not quite that simple. However, if we’re talking about a woman who definitely does NOT want to be pregnant then yes, you have fifteen weeks to figure it out or, tough shit. You’ll have to finish the pregnancy following the rules. Even then, it’s still not that simple.

The problem with life and living it is that everything from the moment you wake up in the morning is an unknown. You just can’t say with 100% certainty what will happen during the course of the day. Remember that gray area? There are so many things that can happen at any time during a pregnancy that a declaration that all abortions after 15 weeks are banned would be impossible without taking all the unknowns into consideration. Before we get into that can of worms—  again, I believe a 15 week limit for those individuals who never wanted to become pregnant but find themselves pregnant for whatever reason is more than enough time to remedy their situation. Because after 15 weeks, it’s no longer your body, your choice. Problem solved. That being said, common sense tells us that most women who after missing one period who does not want to be pregnant would remedy her situation well before 15 weeks.

Now, let’s open up that can of worms.

Abortion: Safe—  Legal and Rare

Clinton got two out of three right but not quite that third one seeing that hundreds of thousands of abortions are performed yearly here in the US. He definitely missed the mark on that one but that was 40 some odd years ago. My how times have changed. Now one would think that with these changing times along with the invention of the morning after pill that the rate of abortions would have dropped dramatically. But it really hasn’t. For those young women here reading this article, there is a tried and true method that is 100% effective. Follow these instructions and I guarantee you, you will never become pregnant. And it really is that simple. Just stick to oral sex and toys. Feels just as good (if not better) with the same results.

Recap:

OK, we’ve solved the problem regarding legal abortion for women who never intended becoming pregnant or just don’t want to be pregnant for whatever reason. The rest of this article will be for those who are considering abortion after 15 weeks. In order to begin offering solutions, we must first ask the all encompassing question. Why? Why does it appear so many women seek abortions after 15 weeks and more importantly—  for what reasons? So, let’s answer that question.

Why?

Why would a woman seek an abortion after 15 weeks? They have to know they’re pregnant by this time. So, why? I can only think of a few reasons and they are (1) financial, (2) physical (3) something changed in the way they viewed the pregnancy. (4) Fear. We’ll take them one at a time.

1. Financial:

Having a kid isn’t cheap and that’s for a pregnancy where everything is going normally. If there are complications, the costs can go through the roof. Scary enough even for a married couple with insurance. Horrifying for a single mother with no insurance or support. While I’m certain there are programs for women who find themselves under these circumstances, it doesn’t diminish what they must be going through. There will always be women out there who will feel completely alone and may have believed they could handle it in the beginning only to find out it’s not such a wonderful thing as time passes. And/or perhaps their financial situation has changed to the point where many feel they just can’t afford to raise a child alone. Seeing that a vast majority of abortions are performed on single women, this could be one of the main reasons. And don’t forget—  this is just for normal pregnancies without complications. Pregnancies with complications, be them major or minor could become absolute nightmares. Solutions? Plenty—  we’ll get to those at the end.

2. Physical: 10 Fingers, Ten Toes

Health of the mother, health of the baby. Another main reason for a woman to terminate a pregnancy. When it comes to abortion at any time during a pregnancy, the health of the mother is paramount. So much so that the health of the mother is in all abortion laws throughout the US. We can all agree that is a valid reason although there are many women in the US who sacrifice their own lives for the lives of their unborn children. But is it relegated to just the health of the mother? Remember all those unknowns we talked about earlier? What happens if those unknowns become known-s? What does an expectant mother do when she finds out through ultrasound or amniocentesis that their child will be born with physical and/or mental impairments? Some possibly severe.

I recognize there are some really strong women (including their families) out there who do whatever it takes to make the best and meet the needs of their child after finding out this devastating news. I also realize there are many who just can’t handle it. There’s no way they could psychologically or financially endure it. Completely understandable. Again—  solutions? Sure.

3. Something Changes:

In other words—  shit happens and because of that shit, women change their minds. Most times, it’s a combination of the first two reasons. Because of that, the thought of having a child alone under already trying circumstances becomes emotionally and/or financially unbearable. Perhaps the father of the child inexplicably walks out on them. Perhaps she lost her job. Perhaps she was informed of complications she wasn’t financially let alone emotionally prepared for. There are a myriad of things that can change what was once something joyful with possibilities into a what seems like a never ending tragedy full of heartache and despair. Especially for a young woman alone with no emotional support. To them, abortion seems to be the only way out.

4. Fear:

It’s one thing to regret an abortion but quite another to be judged. Abortion can remain personal. No one has to know unless the woman who had the abortion decides to tell someone about it. If and when they do, it’s usually a very close-nit group of people who completely support them and their decision. The guilt or regret that may result by their decision usually decreases over time. They had an abortion, it’s done and over with. Nothing can change that. Time to move on with their lives. It’s all in the past. It’s personal and they deal with it on a personal level. Just them and no one else.

Adoption is a different story. What many fear is that knock on the door, that email or that phone call from a complete stranger 18 years later beginning the conversation with—  you’re my mom. Again, from a complete stranger with a thousand questions who expect answers. While this fear is usually unfounded, it doesn’t diminish that fear racing through the minds of women focusing primarily on worst case scenarios for the next 18 years. In their minds, It’s the constant physical reminder and never ending judgement they fear the most. Easier to get an abortion and forget about it.

Justified vs Murder

Scroll up and look at the photos again and ask yourself—  at which week do you see a little human? To the rational individual on the pro-life side—  12 weeks is a stretch whereas 4 to 8 weeks is somewhat reasonable. To those on the pro-choice side, one would imagine 12 weeks is reasonable. Any point above 12 weeks and I would find it impossible for even the most hardcore pro-choicer to not see a young human being. Therefore, again—  by virtue of the photos alone, to the rational individual, abortion at any time beyond 12 weeks to a healthy, growing human being without complications to either the mother or the child is murder. Full stop, end of story. You can define it anyway you like to possibly make you feel better about it—  it’s still murder.

That being said, are their situations that arise during a pregnancy where abortions is warranted? Again—  while I am no doctor, I am certain there are. And I am not arguing that. I would imagine most wouldn’t. Yes, I’m certain there are events that can happen during a pregnancy that can affect the health of the mother and/or the child where the only solution is abortion. A fall, an auto accident… etc. This is that gray area we talked about earlier.

But abortion on demand? Up until birth? For any reason? Absolutely not—  unless there is a significant risk to the mother and only as a last resort after considering all alternatives. (NOTE: For more on this, please finish the article. The Epilog will answer the question.)

Perception:

How abortion is perceived is key. To many, as stated earlier, it’s all about the “my body my choice” chanted by those who believe this issue is black and white. What I find interesting that many of those chanting have absolutely no idea what they’re actually supporting. Try to discuss the issue with them and like many of those on the left, they’re completely unwilling. They just call you names and do their best to drown out your voice. It’s their way or the highway. They literally refuse to see the truth behind it which is why it does no good to show gruesome photos. They just close their eyes then run away. Unfortunately, these are the people whose misguided views on abortion are so baked in, nothing will change their minds.

And then we have the other side who fervently believe abortion under any circumstances should be banned. It’s this all or nothing mentality magnified by media platforms which cause more of this all or nothing mentality. And it’s not just the abortion issue. It’s many issues. So much so that I recently published my article The Great American Divide which addresses it. When you have 330 million people living here in the US, you have to be able to compromise or have solutions which can become a basis to compromise. It won’t necessarily mean we’ll agree with it all, but it just might be something we all can live with. We’ll get to those but we still have to answer the question. At what point do we say NO to murdering babies?

The graphic above represents a series of articles I’m in the process of writing entitled Solutions. I’ll be the first to admit it’s been slow going but I’m getting there. It’s one thing to just sit and complain about issues facing the American Public today, lord knows there are many. What I try to do in my articles is offer possible solutions. Most of which are as plain as the nose on ones face but for some reason, we are so divided that even though solutions do exist, we stubbornly dismiss them out of hand which solves absolutely nothing other than escalate ratings of cable news shows who do their best to instigate further divide..

Legislation

When it comes to legislation from Congress, it’s no wonder their approval ratings rarely go above 30%. Right now it’s somewhere around 23%. One of the reasons for such abysmal report cards is they do the same despicably sneaky things every time they come up with bills they vote on. When called out on it, they just shake their heads saying “Oh well” all the time knowing that we know what they’re doing. And they could care less because now-a-days the only important thing is making sure they have just enough votes for the bill to pass. Even if it’s a party line vote. Even if it’s a horrible bill.

I recently wrote about how all this works in The Big Con. In a nutshell, Congress comes up with an emotional hot-button issue and wraps a bill around it. But it doesn’t just stop there. If it did, you’d see a whole lot more, much shorter bills passed with bipartisan support. But no, they load up the bill with hundreds of pages of complete bullshit that never would have passed on it’s own merit costing billions of dollars. Why? So when it comes to vote on the bill with the name that tugs at the heartstrings of Americans, those who vote against it because of all the added bullshit, can be called names like racist, bigot and just about anything the other side can think of doing their best to discredit the one who opposes the bill. So, in order to pass what turns out to be only 5 or 10% of a bill that’s positive—  that could be passed by both sides of the aisle alone, you also have to pass the remaining 90% of the bullshit contained within the bill as well. Again, the 90% of the bill that would never pass otherwise. And the worst part of it all is that Congress knows that we (the American Public) know this. Think they care? Nope. And don’t think for a second this happens only with Democrats. Perhaps not to that extent, Republicans do the same. Which is why all this horseshit gets passed and the reason for their low approval.

That said—  the only way legislation regarding abortion would have a snowballs chance in hell of passing with support from both sides is if said legislation was solely about abortion and nothing else. No pork, no other issues. Just abortion reform. This legislation could be federal or through each state. And what would that legislation look like? Here it is…. whether you agree or disagree with the following, please finish the article and you’ll better understand the reasoning behind it.

The 2023 Basket of Fish
Abortion Reform Act

Section 1: Abortion

1. All abortions performed for any reason in the United States shall be deemed legal up until the 15th week of pregnancy.

2. No federal monies shall be provided to any business or individual for legal abortions up until the 15th week of pregnancy.

3. Any abortion performed after 15 weeks shall be legal only if by continuing the pregnancy seriously jeopardizes the health of the mother. To be determined by a board of certified doctors.

Section 2: No-Fault Pregnancy

1. At any time during a pregnancy the expectant mother decides for whatever reason she no longer wants any financial or emotional responsibility for her child once birth takes place, financial Federal and/or State support will be provided to the expectant mother to see her through her pregnancy on the condition that she legally relinquish all rights to the child after birth allowing the child to be placed for adoption by a state certified adoption center. If at any time during her pregnancy she changes her mind, she must repay all monies granted to her through this program. Financial support from this program ends sixty days after the birth of the child.

2. If at any time during a pregnancy, complications arise to such a level that the expectant mother can’t emotionally or financially cope with the possibility of raising a child with severe mental and/or physical challenges, financial Federal and/or State support will be provided to the expectant mother to see her through her pregnancy on the condition that she legally relinquish all rights to the child after birth allowing the child to be placed for adoption by a state certified adoption center. If at any time during her pregnancy she changes her mind, she must repay all monies granted to her through this program. This also includes abortion if deemed the only option available to be provided at no cost to the expectant mother. Financial support from this program ends sixty days after the birth of the child.

Section 3: Penalties

1. First time conviction of any medical professional performing an abortion after 15 weeks without legal permission to do so will lose their medical license for a period of one year and pay a fine not to exceed ten thousand dollars.

2. Second conviction of any medical professional performing an abortion after 15 weeks without legal permission to do so will lose their medical license permanently and pay a fine not to exceed one hundred thousand dollars.

3. Third conviction of any medical professional performing an abortion after 15 weeks will result in a ten year prison sentence without the possibility of parole.

4. First conviction of any medical establishment allowing abortions to be performed after 15 weeks without legal permission to do so will pay a one million dollar fine. Individuals convicted of performing abortions within said medical establishment after 15 weeks without legal permission to do so will fall under paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of this section.

5. Second conviction of any medical establishment allowing abortions to be performed after 15 weeks without legal permission to do so will lose their business license for all medical procedures and pay a five million dollar fine. In addition to the fine, all those involved in the creation, investment and/or management of said businesses will be permanently barred from investing in or management of any future medical business. Individuals convicted of performing abortions within said medical establishment after 15 weeks without legal permission to do so will fall under paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of this section.

Section 4: Adoption

1. A State or Federal bipartisan commission to be set up to find solutions to all the red tape involved in the adoption process.

2. State/Federal grants and/or no-interest loans to those who qualify to make the adoption process more affordable to those who can afford raising a child but may not be able to afford the tens of thousands of dollars required for the expensive, lengthy process of adoption.

3. State/Federal grants and/or no-interest loans for the care and placement of mentally and/or physically challenged children.

4. When an expectant mother agrees to place her child up for adoption, she will be required to follow the rules including all stipulations within the agreement. Meaning: (1) It could be an open adoption agreement where she will retain the right to have contact with the child while in the care of the adoptive parents. (2) With previous permission from the birth mother and/or birth father, at the time the child becomes a legal adult, the child will have the option of knowing the birth-parents including all available information about them; names, phone, address… etc. Leaving the choice to contact their birth-parents completely up to them.

Section 5: Funding

Funding for this legislation will be paid for all or in part by adding a surcharge of 15% of the retail price of all contraception drugs and devices. Additional funding can be provided by State, Local and Private grants and donations.

There you have it. Is this everything? Most likely not. Covers all the bases? Again, most likely not. Is any of the above already in place legislatively in any state? I have no idea— although I wouldn’t be surprised if some of it were as I would never be so arrogant to assume the entire legislation proposed above is unique. Will there be unintended consequences? There always are. Let’s take a look at the ones that immediately come to mind.

1. Lawsuits

A certain inevitability. We’re seeing it now in many states even as I type. Should any legislation remotely resembling the proposed legislation above, the very first thing you’ll see will be a mountain of lawsuits. Most likely ending up awaiting a decision by the US Supreme Court. So, don’t believe for a second that you’ll see any real change regarding abortion reform anytime soon. As we’ve seen from cases in the past, this could take years to settle. On top of which— all it would take to do away with abortion reform would be for a new majority in a state’s legislature, and new majority in congress and a new President to simply repeal it or change it completely. Case in point: Anyone take a look at the US/Mexican border recently? There was a time not too long ago when we had that under control.

2. The Backlash

Marches, riots, more burning and looting. Primarily by all those tolerant people on the left peacefully (extreme sarcasm) protesting. But mark my words, it will happen with mainstream media backing them all the way. Even if the legislation is passed with bipartisan support.

3. The Cost

Political and financial. Some politicians will love it because their coffers will become full of donations as they use anything regarding abortion to run on in the next election. Cash cow issue, remember? When it comes to government and legislation, the golden rule is that anything done previously can be undone in the future. Just send your campaign contribution check to……  (More on this in the Epilog)

Financial costs are a slightly different story. This goes back to those pesky unknowns we talked about earlier. No matter what you do legislatively be it Federal or in individual States, there will always be a group of people who will figure out a way to game the system for financial gain or throw the proverbial wrench into the entire system to make it fail. It’s like women who pop out one kid after another so she can get additional money and benefits from welfare states and the Feds. This is the main reason why universal healthcare will never work in the US. There are just too many people who will take full advantage of it. Think I’m wrong? How has bail reform worked out so far in Democrat controlled cities? I rest my case.

The bottom Line

As much as the hardcore pro-life’er will shake their head in complete disagreement, at this point in time I firmly believe there is no chance in hell all abortion will be banned in the United States as a whole anytime soon. Restrictions? Regulations? Sure. We’re seeing this now in many states but the only way you can truly solve the abortion issue is when science and technology makes abortion obsolete and even then there will always be those “Oops!” moments. But you’re just not going to be able to legislate abortion out of existence and I’ll tell you why.

1. History shows that anything done legislatively can be undone legislatively. All it takes are the votes. A simple majority in most cases. It could be a law or simply changing a rule that allows this to take place. This includes State, Federal— even Constitutional Amendments.

2. You have somewhere around 330 million people living in the US— you have indoctrination in Colleges and University’s and now in K-thru 12 public schools teaching CRT, Comprehensive Sexuality Agenda, and all the other Woke bullshit (a list too long) including mind blowing gender affirmation surgery on minors. This is our misguided youth who will, if provoked enough to vote, vote against this.

3. I would bet money that if this issue became an all or nothing issue, neither would pass. The best either side could hope for on the issue is a compromise (as proposed above) that neither would like, but could live with.

The Case for Allowing States to Decide

Overturning Roe VS Wade was the best thing pro-life could hope for as it’s a whole lot easier to persuade one state at a time than it is an entire country. For those pro-lifer’s who want a national ban on abortion, I give you this warning. If you choose to make abortion a Federal issue to the point where those on the pro-choice side feel that threatened, you better be damn sure this is what the majority of the United States wants and I don’t mean just a simple majority or a party line vote, I mean a significant majority. Because if you don’t, the wrath of pro-choice will rain down on you like a ton of bricks and it won’t be just the pro-choice people. It will be democrats, all liberals, those on the left and extreme left with mainstream media backing them all the way. It will backfire so badly, it will be like handing the House, Senate and the White House to them on a silver platter. The results of which will be far greater than abortion. How much greater? All you have to do is look at the last two years for a fairly good example.

The Last Word

The only real way to end abortion in the United States is for people who find themselves pregnant make the choice not to have one. To know there is support out there for most any situation they find themselves in. That life actually is sacred. And you’re not going to accomplish this by creating a massive welfare state to bribe women from aborting their child. You see, there is the challenge. How do you make the case that all life is sacred when so many young people see no value in life. Even their own. Until people find meaning and value in their own lives, how can we expect them to find meaning and value in other’s lives— including the unborn. The ongoing collapse of the family, nuclear or otherwise— deadbeat Dads or completely absent fathers, the decrease in Church attendance with common decency and morality taking a nose dive right in the toilet in most major cities. The growth in sex work and the porn industry for young men and women is staggering. And again, let’s not forget what’s being taught to seven and nine year old girls and boys in our public schools. It’s truly pathetic. Kids killing each other in broad daylight on city and now rural streets across America with little to no remorse. When those in so-called authority refuse to define what a woman is, how the hell are you going to change their minds on issues regarding reproduction.

So, the answer to the question At What Point Do We Say NO to murdering Babies?— the literal answer would be at 4 weeks when the average woman discovers she’s pregnant. But we don’t live in a literal society. The US is made up of different people with significantly different views. Misguided as they may be to us, they disagree. Because of this, we have to come up with a reasonable compromise which both sides can live with. I feel the proposed legislation above could accomplish this. Abortion is a symptom of the society we live in and until we focus equally on that which plagues our society— the only option is compromise.

Some have used the argument of outlawing abortion would be the same as how slavery in the US was outlawed. My only response to that argument is the price for outlawing Slavery was a civil war resulting in the deaths of 650,000 people with millions wounded and cities obliterated. A price very few would be willing to pay.

Addendum: Not in the original article (although it should have been.) And this is in regards to federal legislation. SCOTUS, by throwing out federal laws regarding abortion— sending it back to the States tells us one very important truth. And the truth is—  if you’re for or against abortion, there is absolutely nothing the federal government can do. The only way the United States can create any federal law in regard to abortion (pro-life or pro-choice) is through a constitutional amendment. Full stop! End of story. Even if a law is passed by congress, SCOTUS will throw it out. In hindsight—  I’m not totally sure even federal restrictions would be constitutional. Therefore, the legislation I suggested above should be relegated to states. See? Even The Basket of Fish can change his view when given new insight.

  1. My position upon abortion isn’t very emotionally or scientifically driven. I came to the conclusion that I have no way of knowing if abortion is wrong but decided it should be considered wrong anyways. The reason I came to this conclusion is because some crows are smarter than 7 year olds and I thought,”If a bird is smarter than a 5 year old, why does the bird deserve to live more than the human 5 year old?” The conclusion I came to is that the idea that humans are the only ones with a soul is false, but humans are unique and even if a child doesn’t have a soul yet, it should be treated as if it does, because otherwise animals have more rights than children already born. Maybe what I’m saying doesn’t make sense but that’s my view on abortion.
