While I delve into this topic in much greater depth in my new book 2024: The Wreckoning (which I hope you all get,) after watching some of these candidates running for President on TV— I feel compelled to comment to all willing to read them.

Almost Laughable

Promises promises. Honestly, it would be laughable if it wasn’t for the fact that so many people actually believe these promises and by extension, give Candidates their vote because of irrational wishful thinking. The laughing stops soon after their election when voters come to their senses and buyers remorse sets in. The recent elections of Chicago’s and New York City’s mayors are prime examples. But it’s too late. You’re stuck with your decisions and the consequences for the term of the office. Sure, you can vote them out the next time around but a whole lot of damage can be done in the meantime like what we’re witnessing in cities like Chicago, New York, Portland, San Francisco and many others and states like New York, California, Oregon and Washington and the incredibly sad part of it all is that so-called majorities of these places keep voting these idiots into office. Or, could it be that some elections actually are rigged? Seeing as courts rarely (if ever) overturn verified (rigged but verified) election results, all people can rely on is the court of public opinion. But yes, there are instances where election are and have been rigged with the most famous one being LBJ’s senate election and it happened twice. The first rigged against him and the second for him. Trump’s 2020 election and more recently Kari Lake’s 2022 Governor’s race are two of what I personally consider rigged elections. And it’s not just me. Everybody knows it. Even people who would never admit it know it, but everyone also knows there is absolutely nothing they could have done about it. That is with the exceptions of Trump and Lake themselves. Let’s just say one has to know when it’s a good idea to spend your time and effort with voting reform than it is continuing to flog a dead horse. You make your case to the people, then move on. But elections are stories for another time. Let’s get back to the topic at hand.

Red Meat

Remember the old campaign slogan, “A chicken in every pot and two cars in the garage?” No? Damn, anything else you haven’t learned in Civics? Oh, that’s right, I hear they no longer teach Civics in Public school. This would be another great time for a BOF History Lesson but instead of that, I will refer you to a great article I found explaining it’s origin that I believe you’ll enjoy— click here to read it.

The point being many promises made during the heat of election campaigns are virtually impossible to keep. But they make them anyways because they fire up their base to vote for them. If elected, I promise to….   well, let’s take a look at a few of them. If elected, I promise to—

Federal Ban on Abortion— Contrary to popular belief, there is no way on the face of the earth there will ever be a federal law codifying or banning abortion. Not now, not 10 years from now. It’s a non-starter. SCOTUS, by throwing out federal laws regarding abortion sending it back to the States tells us one very important truth. And the truth is— the only way the United States can create any federal law in regard to abortion (pro-life or pro-choice) is through a constitutional amendment. Full stop! End of story. Even if a law is passed by congress, SCOTUS will throw it out. In hindsight—  I’m not totally sure even federal restrictions would be constitutional. Whatever your views on abortion, best to steer those views towards a State Representative or State Senator for they are the only ones who can affect change either way. Any candidate running for national office using abortion as a talking point is blowing smoke up your ass.

Packing the Supreme Court— Again, would never happen because there would never be enough votes in both Houses to get it passed. Now that’s not to say SCOTUS never gets it horribly wrong from time to time and eventually, they make corrections as they have with Roe v. Wade. One of the best examples of this is the Dred Scott Case (Again, no history lesson. Click on the link to learn about it).

School Loan Bailouts— Nice thought for some but any sane individual had to have know this was never going to happen. Not without congressional approval. Biden tried it anyway knowing it would be struct down at the first opportunity because the DNC knew it would garnish him and other Democrats votes from the Left because they were stupid enough to believe him. For more on this story, please read my article on School Loan Bailouts here.

Drain the Swamp— Another great idea except for one thing. The Swamp is more like an Ocean and unfortunately, Trump found out the hard way. Permanent Washington along with Mainstream Media in their back pockets can be formidable, which is an understatement. Without their constant interference Trump would have most likely doubled his accomplishments and in a more timely manner. This was one thing you could describe as a learning experience when it came to Trump and The Swamp and Trump was learning. In fact, he was learning so fast that The Swamp spared no expense to make sure he would not win in 2020. And when you see what’s being done to Trump today— anyone can see the Swamp is continuing their effort. They are no longer concerned with the optics, or legalities. Just as long as Trump loses. When it comes to Trump, the ends justify any means possible and that’s what’s scary. How far will the Swamp go? RFK Jr certainly knows all about that. Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis both want to take it even further and were either elected President, they too would find out (as Trump did) that draining the Swamp isn’t as easy as one thinks.

Good Cop Bad Cop

Speaking of Courts. I believe it’s safe to say that 99% of Americans would consider themselves fortunate if they never saw the insides of a courtroom. And what about that one or possible two percent remaining? Well, the main difference is politics and money. Both of which determines whether or not a court case evolves into a game of chess. An extremely expensive game of chess. Why? The first obvious answer is that they can afford it and coming in a close second, they love playing the game especially when it’s other people’s money paying for it.

While the rules say courts including Judges who preside over courts are supposed to be impartial, history shows this has never been the case. There is a chapter in my book Covid-19: The Convenient Virus from China that explains how all this seems to work regarding anything political with the main goal being to delay as much as possible for as long as possible. The best example of this is Trump’s border wall. He could have finished it with time to spare had it not been tied up in courts for half of his Presidency. And that was the goal all along. Even though the Left knew they would eventually lose their case, the longer it was tied up in courts, the less wall Trump would be able to construct. Sad but clever… huh? And this happens more often than you think. A law or policy gets passed or written and is immediately challenged in court. Next thing you know, it’s delayed by a Judge for what appears to be ideological reasons. Now, in many cases, the Judge is fully aware his ruling has no chance of withstanding an appeal but he doesn’t care as it was never his goal in the first place. It bought his side time and sometimes time is all that’s required. Meaning— running out the clock and turning many lawsuits into moot points because of elections or the expense involved. Or perhaps they take their chances and let it ride all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court. Either way, it’s all about time and money. Why do you think it’s called Judge Shopping? While I’m sure this takes place with Judges from both sides of the ideological aisle, I would guess it’s more often with Liberal Judges.

Have you noticed that outside of passing huge omnibus bills (usually on Party lines with possibly one or two defectors) that pretty much accomplishes very little if any of what the bill is named and promoted for, Congress at the very least, appears to have given up on actually legislating instead relying on a President to do their jobs for them? The reason being accountability. Worse comes to worse, they can always say they had nothing to do with it. “It’s not my fault,” they say knowing that whatever a President does while in office and be easily canceled (or held in place) by the next President four to eight short years later.

We get the Government we vote for and the decisions for our vote are made up in large part on the promises candidates make with some who seek re-election desperately hoping voters have memory deficiencies in what they’ve been able to accomplish. While I go into greater detail on this topic in 2024: The Wreckoning, I wanted to comment on this topic specifically on my site. The bottom line is to take serious notice on what a candidate promises during their election campaigns and ask yourself the questions. Is the promise they’re making even doable? How a candidate expects to fulfill said promise especially when all common sense tells you that even though you may agree with it, there’s no way on God’s Green Earth it will happen. Why? Because unless you’re the President signing an executive order, it takes more than one to make a promise a reality. And even then, it can be a long-shot. Especially with a mountain of lawyers waiting in the wings to file one lawsuit after another hoping to find a liberal Judge to stop or delay it. (Which is the main reason so much is buried within the four thousand pages of an omnibus bill). And if that’s the case, what other promises are they making? And by the way, you should be worried more with the promises a candidate refuses to make. They are the surprises you never see coming when you elect them to office.

Campaign promises are the first thing Candidates want you to remember before voting and the first thing they want you to forget after they win.
