Ahhh Love— It’s a Wonderful thing

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t keep up with today’s music. Mostly because from what I have heard, it’s shit and most of what is enjoyable are basically rip-offs from the 80’s and 90’s. But when it comes to Love and Romance, there was no better time than the 40’s and 50’s. Don’t get me wrong, I will also add many from more recent times as well. Below (in no particular order) are some of my favorites and yes, in my younger days I was a hell of a romantic. For the older ones here it will be a sort of “remember when”. For the kids? You know, all you between 30 and 50—  you just might remember these as well. Younger? Here’s your chance to hear what Love, Romance and yes, even heartbreak sounded like. PS: To keep you from having to scroll indefinitely, I’ll limit each page to twenty songs. Enjoy…

From the movie Mr Hollands Opus. One of the best renditions of this Gershwin tune.

Although Ella Fitzgerald comes in a close 2nd.

Below we have a few tunes by George Michael. While I had no idea he was gay at the time, it doesn’t matter because these kinds of emotions affect everyone. We all can relate to the words.

… and above all else, Ya gotta have—

It’s always interesting to find out what we thought were recent songs (for the times) were recorded much earlier. Before we are yet again graced with the unforgettable voice of Ella Fitzgerald,

Here’s an example released in 1926.

And now here’s Ella.. recorded 1947

A little more Ella..

Let’s change it up a bit…

From the classic movie…  Casablanca

and who can forget the most romantic crooners of all time.

One of my personal favorites.

There are many versions of the following song. All great but this is my favorite.

This is a work in progress.
Come back often to see new additions.
