Poems and Stories by The Basket of Fish
I often get emails and posts on Social Media complementing me on the poems I’ve written over the years. Included in some are suggestions that I consolidate them all into Continue Reading →
2025: After the Win
The Republican Establishment Party of Bush is long dead and buried. There is no going back to it. If it hadn’t been for Trump along with his policies, Republicans would have been hard pressed to get any of their candidates elected. Love him or hate him, he is the glue that’s holding the Republican Party together. Continue Reading →
Biden Impeachment: Shit or Get Off the Pot
the one thing you can say about Democrats that you can’t say about Republicans. They stick together. Even though what they’ve accomplished is the further destruction of the very fabric of the United States. They stick together Continue Reading →
The Curious Case of Nikki Haley
Sometimes during the course of one’s career, when we get lucky to have a topic about an event or an individual— we see the entire article in our mind so clearly, it writes itself. This my friends, is that time. Continue Reading →
Democrat’s Definition of Unity— “My Way or the Highway”
whether it’s a Democrat or Republican giving their inaugural address as they’re sworn into office on a cold January morning— both will say somewhere in their speech that they will be the President for all Americans. Even though they’re well aware a very large swath know that won’t be the case (according to them). Continue Reading →
Healthcare For All
When I read all the stories. Everything I see and hear on the news. All this talk about medicare for all and my first thought is….. Is America really THAT sick? Continue Reading →
2024: Before You Vote
When it comes to elections, buyers remorse does not exist. You’re stuck with them and to quote Rod Stewart saying “I wish that I knew what I know now” won’t change a blessed thing.

Welcome to the BOF Drive-in
We all see video clips from time to time and some turn out to be damn good. I’ve seen too many to mention them all over the years and have Continue Reading →
Mayorkas: Biden’s Border Troll
Have you ever met anyone, saw someone on TV or a character in a movie that you didn’t like from the moment you laid eyes on him (or her)? And the moment they opened their mouths confirmed it all? Continue Reading →
The Rush to EV’s
From time to time, I like to bring back articles I’ve written in the past for two reasons. First— so the reader can notice when the article was originally published Continue Reading →
The Media: Truth, Lies and Propaganda
On the other hand— truth on a social level doesn’t appear to be as clear cut. We base truth on information we believe to be true. The incredibly high standards we place on facts described in the paragraph above are no where near the standards we place on that we believe to be true. I guess that’s why over the last few years the word “Truth” has now evolved into “our truth” or “my truth.” Truth has transcended into simply what one believes to be true. In many instances facts play little to no role in how they came to their conclusions. Continue Reading →
The United States of Chaos
There’s an old song some of you might remember— “What a Difference a Day Makes” — and if applied to what’s going on in the United States over the past three years substituting the word “Day” with “President,” it sure seems like an appropriate descriptor contrasting the incredible differences to what what was and what now is in America. Continue Reading →
Biden and the 2024 Election: Timing is Everything
We hear it all the time. When it comes to most anything we do in life, timing is everything. Especially when it comes to truth, the media, politics and government. Continue Reading →
‘Twas Some Time Before Christmas
‘Twas some time before Christmas
depends on the day that you’re reading
where once again we reflect
on this year now preceding.
We think to ourselves
with thoughts rather terse,
three years of this shit
can it get any worse? Continue Reading →
Christmas Poems and Stories
Every year, for past few years, I’ve written a Christmas poem that reflects the year we’ve lived in with a pinch of humor thrown in for good measure. Everyone has a story or poem they’ve written or would like to write. Here’s your chance. Continue Reading →
Nuclear World War Three – Veiled Threats?
“The Department of Defense announced its pursuit of a nuclear bomb that will be 24 times more powerful than one of the bombs dropped on Japan during World War II”. The Pentagon is seeking congressional approval and funding to pursue a modern variant of the B61 nuclear gravity bomb, which will be designated the B61-13, according to a DoD press release. Continue Reading →
Israel and The Middle East: Part 2
We live in a world where people want to torture, kill and do unspeakable things to others just because of their religious beliefs. We could have nipped this in the bud long ago but didn’t which allowed it to grow to a level where it’s poisoning everyone. Even the ones who continue to cultivate it with lies and propaganda. Continue Reading →
Israel and The Middle East
Whether you agree, disagree or even care about Middle East politics, anyone, I repeat anyone who believes Hamas was justified in what they’ve done and the inconceivably inhumane atrocities they committed in the process have no soul. They literally have no soul. Continue Reading →
