Before we begin what I’m certain will be yet another lengthy article as I do my best to cover all the bases— I should clarify that while I consider myself a conservative, I’m in no way shape or form affiliated with any political party. Now that we have that out of the way, let’s begin.
We’ll start with the title of this article. When Republicans Flip the Stupid Switch. Why does it seem like every time Republicans are in power they can’t get it right? Answer: Because while conservatives have a great agenda, some of those we elect do an utterly abysmal job of implementing said agenda. Almost to the point of intentionally sinking their agenda altogether. All they appear good at is their ability to bicker— placing their own self-interests ahead of governing as a legislative body. The best example of this is when Republicans held the House and the Senate with President Trump at the helm. In 2016, Republicans fought almost as hard against Trump as the Democrats. And they wonder why they lost the US House a short two years later in 2018? Then both the House and Senate in 2020 only to narrowly win back the House in 2022. And recently with Republicans help in the passage of this last $1.7T Omnibus Bill they again never fail to disappoint us.
House Republicans who voted in favor of the bill were
- Fred Upton of Michigan,
- Liz Cheney of Wyoming,
- Adam Kinzinger and Rodney Davis of Illinois,
- Chris Jacobs and John Katko of New York,
- Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania,
- Jaime Herrera Butler of Washington State, and
- Steve Womack of Arkansas.
I’m certain some of the above like disgraced Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger voted for this bill as a farewell FU to the Republican Party because they will not be returning to the House come January.
Even more unnerving were the Senate Republicans including
- Roy Blunt (Missouri)
- John Boozman (Arkansas)
- Shelley Capito (West Virginia)
- Susan Collins (Maine)
- John Cornyn (Texas)
- Tom Cotton (Arkansas)
- Lindsey Graham (South Carolina)
- Jim Inhofe (Oklahoma)
- Mitch McConnell (Kentucky)
- Jerry Moran (Kansas)
- Lisa Murkowski (Alaska)
- Rob Portman (Ohio)
- Mitt Romney (Utah)
- Mike Rounds (South Dakota)
- Richard Shelby (Alabama)
- John Thune (South Dakota)
- Roger Wicker (Mississippi)
- Todd Young (Indiana)
You have to shake your head in complete disbelief asking the questions— why on earth would Republicans vote to give up virtually any kind of leverage for close to an entire year? Why would any Republican (or Democrat for that matter) vote for a forty-five HUNDRED page bill they haven’t read? It’s truly astonishing. When asked, Lindsey Graham said that the main reason he voted for the bill was because of one part giving an increase in military spending. Seriously? That’s the only reason he voted for this monstrosity? He didn’t take into consideration that when Republicans take over the House, that same increase could have been placed into their bill?
As far as I’m concerned, all of the names above should be primarried when they’re up for re-election. Every single one of them for literally sabotaging their ability to use their power of the purse to get what little they’ll be able to accomplish in the next two years because Democrats hold on the Senate and the White house. They just voted it away. There is so much shit in that bill, they might as well sit on their hands or twiddle their thumbs for the entirety of 2023.
By voting for this bill, Republicans have allowed Democrats yet another year to continue their political and social destruction of the United States. Well done you fools, well done. I’ve said it before. Why do we need a Republican Party when all they seem to be good at is throwing wrenches into most everything they declare they stand for? What was it Obama said about Joe Biden? Don’t underestimate his ability to fuck things up? (Or something to that effect.) Well, if the Republican Party doesn’t get their shit together, they same will be said about them. And those listed above give credence to the old saying — a few rotten apples can in fact spoil the whole barrel. Definitely not a good look for Republicans, especially when they have yet to take control of the House. They flipped that stupid switch earlier than usual.
This first cave by Republicans is proving to conservatives that all you know how to do is whine and cry on cable news shows about everything that has transpired over the last two very painful years. And when you have an opportunity to show fellow American conservatives cohesive unity within the Republican Party— you fail. It would have been a thousand times better if this Omnibus bill had passed without your vote than with it. Why? Not because it would have been seen as partisan but because this bill and all that’s in it was that bad and would have given Republicans as a whole the ability to tell the American Public why it was that bad. Twenty-five Republicans in the House and Senate have now grossly undermined that ability. I wrote an article called The Big Con regarding congressional bills and how they work. Needless to say— these twenty-five Republicans fell for it hook, line and sinker.
So— chalk up one complete failure for Republicans. Is there hope for redemption? Honestly? I don’t know. If Republicans hold to the status quo like they have in the past without making major changes— the amount of time it will take for Republicans to lose the confidence of those who gave them control of the House could be measured with an egg timer.
So, what do Republicans in the House do for the next two years after screwing up so badly? They’ve already given up their negotiation and bargaining ability until September of 2023. They already know any meaningful legislation they try to pass will be immediately squashed in the Senate or vetoed by Biden. What’s left? Glad you asked for the remainder of this article will be devoted to exactly that.
First Things First
When it comes to politics, contrary to popular belief— two years is really not that long. Especially when much of what gets passed legislatively or through executive order ends up being challenged and tied up in courts. And all it takes is a liberal or conservative judge to put the kibosh in enacting said legislation or executive order. Two years later, they’re still battling it out in the courts. Three examples I can think of is (1) when President Trump tried to get rid of Obama’s executive order known as ObamaCare (2) when President Trump tried to get rid of Obama’s executive order known as the Dream Act and most recently (3) Biden trying to get rid of Trumps Title 42 policy. Now I could be mistaken but I was always under the impression that Executive orders from a President can always be overturned by the next President should he desire to. So far, Biden has done a pretty good job of overturning most if not all of Trumps orders except this pesky Title 42. So, I guess it all depends on the executive order and a judge. One would think that wouldn’t be the case but I guess it is. Whether it’s a good or bad policy shouldn’t matter, rules should be rules and you shouldn’t be able to pick and choose which ones stay or go.
Time is the key to all this. Politicians are well aware of it which is why they have mountains of lawyers whose primary job is to run out the clock. How does this work? Feel free to order my book Covid-19: The Convenient Virus from China. It’s all there.
Republicans have had four years to get their ducks in a row so they can hit the ground running should the day come when they regain control of the House, Senate or both. They should know exactly what to do and how to do it on day one. Now they have the House. Think that will happen? From what we’ve seen so far, it’s doubtful but occasionally— miracles do happen. With that said, the very first thing Republicans should do is get on the same page. This is the one thing Democrats are excellent at. Good or bad, when it comes down to brass tacks, they tow the party line. Thank God the senate was divided to the point where it only took one or two Democrat Senators to stop some really bad legislation within the Infrastructure bill being passed although they did eventually cave. But at least the worst parts of the final version of the bill they ended up voting for were removed being replaced by favors for top donors. Can’t say the same with Republicans who voted in favor of it. So— first things first, get on the same page and show some damn unity. And how’s that working out? Not a good track record so far with this Omnibus Bill and now they have to vote on a Speaker. More bickering. And in public no less. Not a good look for Republicans. Get your shit together. Then on—
Day One
Seeing as I’m no politician, I’ll make the suggestions and let the politicians work out the details.
- 1. Get the House rules back in order. First and foremost— No more proxy voting.
- 2. Strip Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell of all committee assignments.
- 3. Immediately announce Impeachment inquiries into Joe Biden (including testimony from Hunter Biden and the Biden family,) Alejandro Mayorkas, Christopher Wray and Merrick Garland (among others).
- 4. Immediately announce a continuance of the January 6th hearings only this time, show the American Public everything Democrats refused to which includes testimony by Nancy Pelosi.
- 5. Immediately announce hearings into Big Tech/Twitter and their suppression of news including the censoring of public discourse.
- 6. Immediately announce investigations into the origin of Covid-19 and the role Dr. Anthony Fauci and others played.
- 7. Immediately announce that the House will not consider further Omnibus Bills while they’re in control.
- 8. Immediately announce a House rule that all bills submitted to the House (unless it’s considered an emergency) will be given appropriate time to read, debate and consider each bill before said bill is put up for a House vote with the bare minimum of one week (or longer depending on the bill). This is after going through all appropriate committees first such as the appropriations committee.
Important note:
For some of you House Representatives, be prepared to grow a spine between now and when you take control of the House and remember— no matter what you do for the following two years will be completely trashed by the left with major help from the media. You have known this is how they are for decades now so this should come as no surprise. Regarding the 8 points above, stick to your guns and use facts— NOT Politics— to make your case for the actions you’re taking. Especially when dealing with liberal media. Under no circumstances should you lower yourselves to political speeches as a last ditch effort to make your case. Democrats are old pro’s at this and trust me— it never looks good. People see right through it.
Weeks One & Two
- 1. Set up a calendar and announce when investigations and hearings will take place. Do NOT waste time because the very first thing Democrats will do is lawyer up and try to drag everything out for as long as possible. And remember— time is a luxury you don’t have.
- 2. Be prepared for just about everyone you call on to testify will take the 5th. If and when this happens, plaster it everywhere you can. Don’t count on liberal media to report on any of this. If it makes them or Democrats look bad, they’ll just kill the story and sweep it under the carpet. Don’t allow that to happen.
- 3. Make absolutely sure you are prepared when hearings begin. No speeches. Stick to the facts and what you can prove. Let the Democrats make their partisan speeches as they waste their five minutes. That’s really all they know how to do when caught red-handed.
- 4. Under no circumstance do you allow Democrats to slow-walk this process. Use every legal and political tool available to make sure this doesn’t happen.
Hearings
The biggest mistake politicians make when conducting committee hearings is repetition. Because of the five minute rule (which should be changed to at least ten minutes) with questioning and speeches shifting between Republicans and Democrats— the testimony tends to get lost in the mix with those asking pretty much the same questions without the ability to follow up because the one testifying has been taught to drag out their answers in order to run out the clock turning the entire testimony into a confused pile of soundbites.
A possible solution to this would be to agree to have all of the questioning done by just one or two Republicans with the remaining Republicans seeding their five minutes to the one[s] who are best at questioning the witness. Someone like a Jim Jordan. By doing so will keep the questioning flowing in a cohesive straight line instead of an all over the place jumbled mess.
If ANYONE chooses to defy a subpoena (including Nancy Pelosi) then you immediately slap a contempt charge like what was done to Steve Bannon and others. If Merrick Garland decides not to charge anyone doing this, plaster it all over cable news and social media. And remember to ask Merrick why when he’s brought up to testify himself.
Investigations
Anyone heard of John Durham? What the hell happened to him and his investigations? Nothing? Nothing. Sure, he prosecuted a couple of people… but seeing as these trials took place in DC, is anyone surprised by their acquittals? Of course not! This is DC after all. John Durham was a complete waste of money and time Why? Because you allowed this fool to take all the time he needed in order to do absolutely NOTHING!. And he knew that his prosecutions would end in acquittal by virtue of where the trial would be held. He can’t be that stupid. He had to have known this would have been the outcome. That being said…
- 1. Begin all inquiries, investigations and hearings within ninety days of taking control of the House.
- 2. Do not screw around. Use every tool available to compel testimony, provide all documents and other information. If they refuse or drag out fulfilling requests, slap a contempt charge on them so fast it will make their heads spin. Remember— no screwing around.
- 3. Allow all witnesses a reasonable amount of time to testify. Sixty days is more than reasonable.
- 4. Do not allow lawyers to delay – delay – delay. We’re beginning to see this already.
- 5. Televise as much as humanly possible.
- 6. (Important) No two, three or four year investigations. All investigations should be completed within four months with hearings and inquiries completed within sixty days. Quit dragging shit out to the point where no one cares.
- 7. All hearings and findings from investigations will be public.
- 8. Expect nothing. (I will address this in the epilog).
Impeachment
Within six months of Republican control of the House, if Biden and some of his gang haven’t resigned by now. Impeach them. No bullshit speeches. Just expose them for their deeds. Make an irrefutable case that even the media can’t ignore or defend. If criminal referrals are deemed appropriate, submit them. If ignored, find out why through a hearing under oath.
Legislation
- 1. All legislation should be single issue. No more Omnibus Bills filled to the brim with pork and earmarks.
- 2. All legislation with at least 50% support by House Republicans should be voted on by the House.
- 3. No vote by Proxy. House representatives will show up to vote. If not, their vote will not be counted.
- 4. No legislation from the Senate will be considered nor submitted for a House vote unless it’s single issue legislation. Non-negotiable.
- 5. Unless it’s an emergency action, all legislation will be given a minimum of seven days (or longer depending on the length of the bill) to actually READ the damn bill before voting on it. If it takes a House Rule to accomplish this then do it. I’d love to see Democrats (should they regain the majority) explain their reasoning should they decide to remove it. No more of “You have to pass a bill to find out what’s in it” nonsense. Yet they continue this insanity.
- 6. No amendments to legislation will be allowed unless they are specifically related to the original legislation.
Now— before you call me a lunatic for this advisory, hear me out. When legislators vote no on a huge bill, all one sees is that a no vote was cast. Rarely, if ever do we find out what part of the bill compelled them to vote no. You solve that problem with single issue bills. No pork, no earmarks, no donor favors or paybacks— just the issue. Vote yes or no, it’s that simple. Why point 2? Because whether it passes or fails, we’ll know how our representatives stand on specific issues. Especially should he/she seek another term in office. This is important. This will weed out RINO’s and Establishment Republicans by showing us who to primary two years from now. Personally, I don’t give a rat’s ass if the House (including the Senate) has to vote 15 times a day. It’s called— doing their damn job.
Another plus point 2 gives us is what happens in the Senate once legislation is passed in the House. Whichever decision they choose will be very telling. This includes Biden should he veto legislation passed by both Houses. Single issue legislation is best because it’s completely transparent. No room to hide anything. Want to know more? Read my article The Big Con.
The Media
- 1. Be prepared when being interviewed.
- 2. Call out all gotcha questioning. Let the interviewer know those kinds of questions will not be tolerated.
- 3. Call out all stupid questions and refuse to answer them. Ask the interviewer your own questions if necessary. Nothing better than to catch an interviewer in their own lies and hypocrisies.
- 4. If being asked a valid question, answer it honestly.
- 5. Offer Carrie Lake a nice paycheck to hold a seminar on dealing with the press. (Just as long as she keeps her mouth shut about her election loss).
- 6. QUIT MAKING STUPID COMMENTS! Like Tom Cotton wanting to hand Ukraine billions of dollars putting the US into a more dangerous position with Russia. Or Lindsey Graham talking about a Federal Ban on Abortion just days before the midterm elections. I realize this is a lot to ask but… DAMN!
Expect Nothing
Republicans have to realize what their role should be as they take control of the House in January and the sooner they realize what that is, the easier it will be for them. Their main jobs will be (1) setting the record straight through hearings, inquiries, investigations and impeachments. (2) Placing single issue legislation up for a vote as often as possible so the American Public knows exactly where their representatives from both sides of the aisle in the House and Senate stand on important issues. And (3)— make it all public.
The media will fight you tooth and nail throughout the next two years. They’ll call your legislation nothing more than messaging bills and I say What’s wrong with that If the message is important? They’ll liken your investigations to a witch-hunt as payback for their witch-hunt against Trump but there’s an important difference. Biden and his gang are literally destroying this Country. When he is impeached— I guarantee you as with typical Washington DC, he will not be convicted. I can only hope he will resign from the pressure he will have to endure.
You’ll be hard-pressed to pass any meaningful legislation over the next two years but don’t let that stop you. Better to pass no legislation than horrible legislation like this last Omnibus Bill.. Again— your job is to call out everything the left is doing. Plaster it everywhere. Come up with legislation to secure the border. Finish the damn wall. Tell the Democrats you will not entertain any immigration reform bills unless the border wall has been completed first. This is the best part of small single issue bills that can be easily read within an our or two (if that long). No pork, and more importantly no hidden shenanigans. It’s a simple yes or no dealing with a specific issue, Let Democrats (along with Establishment RINO Republicans) try to explain why they voted no on common sense bills to their constituents. This is where a politician’s true colors are revealed.
Keep in mind— one of your main goals will be laying a foundation for the 2024 elections with your only real tool being the ability to hold hearings, inquiries, investigations and making Biden and his gang accountable through impeachments for their deeds over the last two years. The Democrats job will be to continue to lie, spin, deflect, misdirect and most important— delay and drag out all oversight by the House for as long as possible with liberal press never ending attempts at defending these idiots. And make no mistake— they’ll try.
You have the pulpit. You make the rules. Be fair but don’t be foolish. Remember who you’re dealing with. It’s time to play hardball. And you have just two very short years to accomplish this. Just do me one favor— will ya?
Don’t fuck it up.
